What is this site about? Why did I create it? The answer is very simple, but I'll probably explain it in a complicated way...
Once upon a time, back when we were young, and the internet was new, there was a site called sixdegrees. It was one of the first, possibly the first, social networking sites on the web. You could create links to people of various types, but the types were limited. At the time, a bunch of us joked that we needed more types of links. The one batted around the most was 'Nemesis'. Then, it went away, and we were sad. Ever since, I've been meaning to write my own, and include the more 'interesting' link types. So, that's reason one.
Reason two is simple: I'm out of the loop. I've no idea who's dating who, who's fucking who, who hates who. I don't hear about these things, and even when I do, I don't remember. Solution? Have people tell me, in a place where I can look it up later!
The third reason is relatively pedestrian. You know the cliche about how when you sleep with someone you're sleeping with everybody they've ever slept with, and everybody they've ever slept with, and so on? Well, why not graph it? Chronology is a problem here, and I haven't come up with a good solution for that yet. But, this is still one of the things I had in the back of my head when I was putting the site together.
And finally, reason four is simple: Proving a thesis. It's printed on the front page:
