Accounts
"Didn't I tell you to delete my account months ago? I demand you do it now!"
We rebuilt the site from an old database. Ancient, antideluvian, old, old, old, OLD. We don't have a good record of account deletion requests newer than the backup -- such is the nature of catastrophic data loss. So if your account existed then, it may still be around. Want it gone? Email us and we'll take care of it as soon as we have a chance. And don't be a dick about it. (This means you, Brian.)
"Why am I still getting emails after my account was deleted?"
The system will send emails to unregistered addresses when someone links to them, just like to registered users. At some point in the future, I'll add the ability to set a "leave me alone" flag.
Links
"What do those weird numbers mean?"
That's the "new" scoring mechanism.
C=Connection
T=Trust
E=Esteem
A=Affection
L=Attraction (aka Lust)

Each relationship type implies different scores on each axis.
Administrative
"What happened to the site?"
A series of increasingly problematic events. First, a power outage. After the power was restored, the database server wouldn't boot. In the process of installing a new operating system, the database files were lost. It was then discovered that the backups hadn't actually succeeded in nearly 9 months. So, we lost not only 9 months of users and data, but also all of the database structural changes that had been made in that time.
So, I shut the site down until I could at least recreate the database structure. Well, I finally got around to it, and we're back.
"What happened to the FAQ?"
It was lost when the rest of the database was lost. We'll be recreating it when we get the chance
"How can I help?"
The best way to help is to code up improvements to the site.
All of the code is available via SVN at svn://svn.midgard.org/sixmoredegrees. Patches should be submitted to martian@midgard.org. Commit permissions will be granted if and when needed.

Other ways to help:
  • Spread the word. Tell people about the site.
  • Link to everybody you can. We have links types like 'has met' and 'has heard of' for a reason. You don't need a deep connection to someone to link to them. Some link type require approval by the linkee, but many don't. Just don't make stuff up, k?
  • Donate. Not as critical as the other things, but it makes me happy and is a good way to let me know you think the site's worthwhile.
"I pissed off the Administrator. What happens now?"
If you still have an account at this point, probably nothing.
"You're mean!"
The site is free, and nobody pays us to be nice here. You have two options: Suck it up, or go fuck yourself. Have a nice day!
"Who are the admins?"
As of October 2007:
Marty, the developer
Loree, the content manager (and primary FAQ editor, if you couldn't already tell)

We'll probably try to take some more on later.
"I emailed you DAYS ago! Aren't you ever going to answer my question?"
We have day jobs, social commitments, personal responsibilities... In short, lives. We'll respond eventually. Be patient, be polite, or begone. Whiny bitches go to the bottom of the priority list.
